Do you have any experience to present on the use of research or research in social policy in Latin America and the Caribbean?

The Latin American and Caribbean Evidence Hub aims to promote the connection and collaboration between stakeholders in the debate on the use of evidence in policies and social interventions in the region. What can we learn from each other to strengthen this debate and promote opportunities for a shared agenda for better informed and effective public policies?

We expect abstract submissions that address or discuss innovative ways to use evidence to expand and improve social policies and interventions at any level of organization. We also invite submissions that explore experiences, tools, and methods to support the production, dissemination and use of evidence in politics and practice; and focus on ways to strengthen social participation in this theme.

Goal

Exchange experiences, tools and research on key topics in the region, which point to ways to strengthen the use of evidence to inform social policies and interventions.

Themes/rooms

We expect abstract submissions that address or discuss innovative ways to use evidence to expand and improve social policies and interventions at any level of organization. We also invite submissions that explore experiences, tools and methods to support the production, dissemination and use of evidence in politics and practice; and focus on ways to strengthen social participation in this theme.

Participants will choose one of five themed rooms for their presentation:

  • Education evidence and policies

  • Public safety evidence and policies

  • Health evidence and policies

  • Human rights and environmental evidence and policies

  • Employment evidence and policies

Submission Guidelines

Abstracts of up to 500 words will be accepted, which briefly describe:

a) the experience performed;

b) identified challenges and solutions;

c) actors involved and their countries;

d) reflections on how learning can be multiplied in Latin America.

Abstracts will be evaluated by a committee. Summaries with collaborative experiences between countries in the region will be prioritized, but the submission of local experiences will also be encouraged.

Abstracts selected for oral presentation on November 18th at 10 am - 12 am (GMT - 5) will have a total presentation time of 08 minutes, to enable the debate.

Participants who wish to submit abstracts of experiences for audiovisual presentation (posters, videos, infographics, audios) may indicate in their submission the desired format and will have their experiences on display in the virtual gallery of the event’s platform, without the need for synchronous presentation. Abstracts that are not selected for the oral presentation may be invited to produce materials for the virtual gallery.

Participant profile:

Researchers, public policy workers, members and leaders of organized civil society and private social investment, policymakers and their supporters, and other stakeholders from Latin America and the Caribbean. Representatives from other regions interested in sharing tools will be welcomed!
